Event Description: 2024 SDGA Women's Match Play at Brookings on July 12-14

Format: New! (Pod System)

This year we will be using a new format based on the WGC Match Play (Pod System). Here is a brief description of the new format. You can read a full description on the format using the link here.

Women's Match Play 2023

SETTING THE FIELD - We will no longer be conducting qualifying rounds on site. The 32 player Championship will be filled with exempt players and other players who will compete at various local qualifying sites.

AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP - Using the POD system (like the WGC Match Play), players are seeded in PODS of four and play three matches against the other players in their POD. The players with the best record in each of the 8 PODS advance to the single elimination bracket to determine the Champion.

Here are some of the advantages to the new format.

  • All players who make the Championship will be guaranteed three matches using the POD system. Under the previous format, many played only one match.

  • Non-exempt players will be able to try to qualify for a very low fee ($20 plus green fees at the qualifying site), and only pay the full entry fee if they advance to the Championship. Under the old format players had to commit to the full entry fee without knowing if they would qualify for the Championship flight or how many matches they would play.

  • Tee times and pairings for all pod matches are known ahead of time making for smoother scheduling and a more enjoyable experience.

Eligibility: SDGA Women members who are exempt and anyone who qualifies through a local qualifier.

Entry Fee: $160
